Day 1 USA / Singapore
Depart USA for Singapore.
Day 2 Arrival at Singapore
Your English-speaking tour guide will meet you at the airport and escort you to your hotel.
Day 3 Singapore B,
Today you will have a city tour that showcases the history, multi racial culture and lifestyle that is Singapore. See the city's colonial heritage as we drive around the Vicit District past the Padang, the Cricker Club, Parliament House, Supreme Court, and City Hall. Stop at the MERLION PARK for great views of Marina Bay and a picture-taking opportunity with the Merlion, a mythological creature that is part lion and part fish. The tour continues with a visit to the THIAN HOCK KENG TEMPLE, one of the oldest Buddhist-Taoist temples on the island, built with donation fromt eh early immigrant workers from China. Next drive past Chinatown to a LOCAL HANDICRAFT CENTRE to watch Asian craftsmanship. From there we proceed to the NATIONAL ORCHID GARDEN. Our final stop at LITTLE INDIA will enthrall you with the scent of joss sticks, jasmine and spices.
Day 4 Singapore – Tampin – Malacca B,
Meet at your hotel lobby (along Orchard Road) between 0600am to 0620am. Transfer to the train station for the train departing 0740 hours to Tampin (train timing subject to change). Enjoy the rural scenery as the train passes through villages and plantations. Arrive Tampin railway station at 1215 pm. The driver/guide will meet you here and proceed to Malacca. Tour the historic sites such as Cheng Hoon Teng Temple – the oldest functioning Chinese temple in Malaysia, Kampung Kling Mosque, Jonker Street (Antique Row), Baba & Nyonya Museum, Stadhuy’s Building, Malacca Clock Tower, Christchurch and the famous Porta de Santiago.
Day 5 Malacca – Kuala Lumpur B,
Depart by 0830 hours to Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia where upon arrival you will be given a Tour of Kuala Lumpur. Places to be visited are King’s Palace (photo stop), National Mosque & Railway Station, National Monument, Independence Square, Sultan Abdul Samad building (photo stop), Selangor Club (photo stop), St Mary’s Church and the world’s tallest free-standing flagpole. Tour resumes for visit to the Seri Mahamariaman Temple and colourful Chinatown for bargain hunting. Visit the tallest Communication Tower in South East Asia for a panoramic view of the City. Check in your Hotel.
Day 6 Kuala Lumpur B,
Breakfast. Morning tour of the Countryside visiting a pewter factory showing Malaysia as one of the biggest producers of tin, Batu Caves – the holy sacred cave temple for the Hindus (except during Thaipusam in January/February) and a batik factory. Rest of the day is at your own leisure to discover the good bargains and cozy cafes and restaurants of Kuala Lumpur, the happening City. Overnight.
Day 7 Kuala Lumpur – Cameron Highlands B,
Depart by 0830 hours for Cameron Highland located at 1542 meters above sea level and noted for its tea plantations and cool temperatures. Stop on the way for a visit to see the cottage industry of basket weaving at work followed by Lata Iskandar Waterfall and a native settlement. Be immersed in the cool, crisp air of Cameron Highlands with its wonderful scenery. Tour of Cameron Highlands consists of the tea plantation, tea factory, market place and butterfly farm. Overnight.
Day 8 Cameron Highlands – Penang B,
Early morning set off to Penang. Enroute visit the Sam Poh Tong cave temple. Thereafter stop at the Royal town of Kuala Kangsar for a spell of photographing of the exterior view only of Ubudiah Mosque, Iskandariah Palace and Istana Kenangan. Proceed further to Kuala Sepetang mangrove forest, the best managed mangrove forest in Malaysia and one that serves a very important ecological role in protecting the coastline from erosion. Delight in the novelty of walking through natural mangrove forest on a boardwalk. Kuala Sepetang produces the bulk of the nation’s top quality mangrove charcoal. Visit a charcoal kiln where quality charcoals are produced. Cross over to Penang, better known as the “Pearl of the Orient” via the fifth longest bridge in the world. Overnight.
Day 9 Georgetown Penang B,
0900 hrs, depart from hotel for a City, Culture, and Heritage tour of Georgetown. Visit the 3rd longest reclining Buddha figure in the world followed by the Kek Lok Si Temple that was built in 1904. It is the most beautiful and largest Buddhist temple complex in South East Asia and is known as the Temple of the 1000 Buddhas. Next on the agenda is Fort Cornwallis, the landing site of Captain Francis Light in 1786 when he arrived to start the first British colony in Penang. Tour carries on to an interesting visit to the water village, in existence since the 19th century, along the southern stretch of Penang's Weld Quay. The Clan Jetties, so named as residents of each jetty share similar surname. Their wooden houses on stilts extend out to the sea. The jetties were established at a time when Penang's maritime trade was booming. Continue to the other part of the Old Georgetown. Drive along Pitt Street, also known as “The Street of Harmony”. Here churches, Chinese temples, mosques and Hindu temples are built along the same street in harmonious existence side by side for centuries. Visit the intricate Khoo Kong Si clan’s house. Enjoy a breezy trishaw ride, a still popular mode of transport in Georgetown. Return to the hotel and the rest of the day is at your own leisure.
Day 10 Penang – Bangkok B,
Transfer to Butterworth to board the international train to Bangkok, departing at 1420 hrs. The journey is unaccompanied. Only 2nd class train tickets are available. Overnight sleeping berth.
Day 11 Bangkok
You will arrive at Bangkok around 10:50am. Your tour guide will meet you at the station and escort you to your hotel.
Day 12 Bangkok B,
After breakfast at the hotel you will take a half day City and Temple Tour. Meet your tour guide at the lobby and be driven through the center of Bangkok to visit three of the most gorgeous Buddhist temples in Bangkok: Wat Traimitr with its impressive three-meter tall, 5 tons heavy solid gold Buddha image which gleams like no other gold artifact, Wat Pho, Bangkok’s oldest and largest temple, which features the largest reclining Buddha and the Chedi of the kings and Wat Benchamabophit, the Marble Temple, a prime example of modern Thai architecture. You will have some time enjoy shopping before returning to your hotel. Afternoon is free at leisure.
Day 13 Depart Bangkok B,
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer from hotel to Bangkok International Airport.
